Features and applications of I-beams steel
Review a bit so that you can understand the basic characteristics of I-beams.
- I-beam is a monolithic steel bar
- The flanges of the I-beam are tapered with an inclination of 1:10 for better load-carrying capacity.
- The cross-section of the I-beam is usually deeper than the width, so it is resistant to local warping.
- I-beams are used for spans from 10 to 30.5 meters.
Remember these 4 outstanding features, you don’t need to worry about being confused between I-beams and
H-beams anymore.
With such characteristics, the application of I-beam steel is quite specialized. Specifically, it is only applied in a few areas such as:
- Making support frames and columns for elevators and trailers.
- Used as tram rail.
- Fabrication and installation of hoists
- Construction of steel structures and bridges.
