5 popular welded steel pipe fittings
Currently, there are two main types of pipe fittings: welded fittings and threaded fittings. They are classified based on how they connect to the pipe.
For example, an externally threaded coupling is a type of coupling with thread steps on the outside. The pipe installed on this ferrule will be threaded on the inside. When combined, the threads of the pipe and coupling will be intertwined and tightly fitted together. On the contrary, welding couplings will not have a thread pitch, and to connect to the pipe, people will weld them together.
Therefore, welded steel pipes can use both threaded fittings and welded fittings. Choosing which accessories depends on the system’s requirements and the project owner’s intentions. Below are five common types of steel pipe fittings. They are also welded steel pipe fittings used in many projects.
