Contributing to the Development of a Modern Logistics and Energy System in Northern Vietnam, Bao Tin Steel is Proud to Support the Nam Dinh Vu Aviation Fuel Terminal – Phase 1 Project in Hai Phong.

In our role as the supplier of critical steel materials, we have ensured both the schedule and quality for the fuel storage tanks, piers, and pipeline systems—key components of this nearly VND 400 billion project with a capacity of 100,000 m³.

Project Overview

On May 3, 2024, the Nam Dinh Vu Aviation Fuel Terminal – Phase 1 officially commenced at the Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park, Hai An District, Hai Phong City. This is one of the key energy infrastructure projects in Northern Vietnam, with Nam Dinh Vu Aviation Fuel Terminal Joint Stock Company (NDV Seaport, JSC) serving as the project investor.

With an investment of nearly VND 400 billion and a capacity of 100,000 m³, the project includes a fuel storage tank system, a 420-meter specialized pier for vessels up to 20,000 DWT, and integrated technical facilities. It is positioned as a new “energy gateway,” easing logistics bottlenecks and improving fuel import and distribution in Northern Vietnam.

Located in the Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone, the terminal benefits from strong infrastructure and incentive policies. Beyond aviation fuel, it is designed as a multi-purpose hub for storing and distributing various liquid and gaseous fuels, serving the aviation, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.

Bao Tin Steel’s Role in the Project

During the groundbreaking and construction of the Nam Dinh Vu Aviation Fuel Terminal – Phase 1, Bao Tin Steel Co., Ltd. played a key role as a supplier of critical materials, contributing to the project’s schedule and technical quality.

The company supplied approximately 100 tons of materials, including carbon and stainless steel pipes as well as various connecting accessories. Key highlights include:

• Carbon steel seamless pipes from DN50 to DN500, with thicknesses of 3.91–10.31 mm and lengths of 6 m per piece.
• 304 stainless steel pipes DN50 for sections requiring high corrosion resistance.
• Pipeline fittings: welded elbows, welded tees, reducing joints, and spools.
• Standard steel flanges for connecting the piping system, designed to withstand high pressure.

This demonstrates Bao Tin Steel’s capacity for large-scale supply and the trust placed in the company by the project investor. It also reinforces Bao Tin Steel’s position as a reliable industrial steel supplier for Vietnam’s key national projects.

Challenges and Solutions

As a key aviation fuel terminal project, Nam Dinh Vu – Phase 1 posed strict technical requirements for contractors and suppliers. The storage tank and pipeline systems not only demanded high mechanical strength but also had to meet international standards for pressure resistance, corrosion protection, and fire safety.

In addition, the tight construction schedule, combined with a large volume of materials spanning multiple project components,s created significant pressure on supply, transportation, and quality supervision.

To address these challenges, Bao Tin Steel implemented a series of coordinated solutions:

• Selected carbon steel and accessory products compliant with ASTM, API, and JIS standards, accompanied by clear CO-CQ certification.
• Applied strict quality control procedures from warehouse receipt to project handover.
• Utilized large-scale warehouse systems in Ho Chi Minh City and Bac Ninh to ensure a stable material supply.
• Organized flexible logistics operations to meet the investor’s construction schedule in a timely manner.

As a result, all 100 tons of steel materials were delivered on schedule, fully meeting technical requirements, and played a critical role in ensuring the project commenced on time and progressed smoothly.
