Technical Specifications of CT3 Steel Plate – Its Application in Construction

In this article, Bao Tin Steel would like to introduce a type of CT3 steel plate and provide information about its technical specifications and applications in construction projects.

Steel is known to be one of the most important materials used in construction. To serve diverse needs, people have introduced many different shapes of steel. Steel plate is a type of material used in factory structures, shipbuilding, barrels, etc.

What is CT3 steel plate?

CT3 steel is a low-carbon steel, typically between 0.14 and 0.22%. CT is a symbol representing C content <0.25%. In addition, there are several other ingredients in the CT3 steel grade, including sulfur (≤ 0.05%), phosphorus (≤ 0.04%), manganese (0.4%–0.6%), and silicon (0.12%–0.3%).

Basic characteristics of CT3 steel plate

Definition of CT3 steel plate

According to Russian standards OCT 380–89, CT3 steel is a steel grade with a low carbon content (only 0.14–0.22). Therefore, the material CT3 steel plate also has a low carbon content, leading to the hardness of the steel plate being quite low. CT3 steel plate is known as a type of steel plate that possesses high ductility and has extremely good bending ability. In addition to possessing an extremely high level of ductility, it also has good corrosion resistance.

According to Vietnam’s construction steel standards (TCVN 1651–1985, TCVN 1651–2008),. CT3 steel plates are divided into two types: CCT34 and CCT38 (in which C belongs to the group C steel structure; 34 and 38 are the limit strengths of steel).
