Scale of Viettel IDC Hoa Lac project
It is known that Viettel currently has 14 centres, with a scale of over 81,000m2 of floor space. The total power capacity is more than 86 MW (equivalent to 11,500 racks). These centres are concentrated in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong.
Viettel’s Data Center (DC) is built in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, next to the Group’s factories. With a floor area of 21,000 m2, 2400 racks and a power consumption of 30 MW, This is Vietnam’s largest and most modern data centre. Specifically, Viettel’s DC has 8 floors, each floor is divided into separate functions. In which:
- The first floor includes a common lobby, medium voltage rooms, transformer stations and generator systems.
- The 2nd floor is equipped with a centralized control centre, synchronization system, ATS cabinet, and power distribution system to the IT room floors.
- From the 3rd floor to the 6th floor and half of the 7th floor are the areas where the server room, UPS systems and batteries are located.
- The remaining 7th floor and the roof are the areas where the chiller water cooling system for the data centre is located.
The centre applies new technologies and solutions in the direction of energy saving, green, and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize performance. Thanks to that, the project has been certified by HSBC as eligible for green credit.
Viettel IDC Hoa Lac is designed to ensure 5 layers of security (highest) including:
- Fence surrounding the data centre;
- Data centre building door with 24/7 security;
- Building access control system;
- Door system for each computer room and control system for the private rental area for customers according to TIA 942-B rated 3 standard (network system rated 4).
Viettel IDC Hoa Lac also meets the network information security system according to ISO 27001 Information Security standards and PCI-DSS and organizes information security monitoring for the entire data centre 24/7 at the NOC room.

As a national-scale project, Viettel IDC Hoa Lac sets extremely strict requirements from product quality to the supplier’s supply capacity. Below are some typical requirements:
For products
- Construction materials must comply with national and international standards. Especially standards on durability, hardness, load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, etc.
- Batches must ensure uniformity in quality and absolutely no deviation between each batch.
- Materials must have complete quality inspection reports from reputable inspection units.
For material suppliers
- Must have full business license, legal tax code
- Have enough capacity to supply a large amount of materials for the project. Thereby, ensuring the right progress according to the project’s requirements, without interrupting the construction process.
- Own a team of professional, experienced staff, handle problems quickly to be able to support whenever needed.
- CO and CQ certificates must be complete and valid.
- Work transparently, and publicly, with clear contracts. Along with that are terms on quantity, quality, delivery time, payment, etc.
- There are reasonable price policies and flexible payments to meet customer requirements.
Faced with many of the above strict requirements, not all material suppliers can meet them. Therefore, Bao Tin Steel is proud to be one of the few units to accompany the Viettel IDC Hoa Lac project.
Bao Tin Steel supplies materials for the project
Bao Tin Steel provides steel pipes and materials of various sizes for this project. The volume of the shipment is up to hundreds of tons, specifically:
- CangZhou Large Size Galvanized Steel Pipe: From DN250 to DN600. Corresponding thickness between 12.7mm and 17.48mm.
- SeAH galvanized steel pipe: From diameter 21 to diameter 219. Corresponding thickness ranges from 2.77mm to 8.18mm.
- Large-sized pipe fittings such as galvanized elbows, tees, and reducers: From DN250 to DN600 with a standard thickness of SCH40.
The products are imported directly by Bao Tin Steel and thoroughly inspected before delivery. By ensuring the requirements are met, these products have been officially approved for construction.
