What is a tole? What types are there? This is an interesting question for many customers. For those working in the construction and engineering industry, the corrugated sheet is no longer a strange material. However, not all users know its Vietnamese name. This causes many misunderstandings and difficulties when purchasing. Are you curious? See the answer in Bao Tin Steel’s article!
What is a tole?
Tole is the English name for corrugated sheet (roofing sheet). This is a material made from thin rolled metal sheets commonly used for roofing. Tole is sometimes understood as steel plate, rolled steel plate, steel sheet, steel strip, etc.
From the above concept, we can see that the tole is a galvanized sheet. The use of the name galvanized sheet or corrugated sheet depends on each person’s habits. If someone asks you, “What is atole?” you can completely confirm that it is a galvanized sheet.
Distinguishing common types of tole today
As mentioned, to meet the needs of users, many types of galvanized sheets have been produced and sold on the market. Each type has its characteristics and features. Customers can distinguish them through factors such as:
- Sheet metal material: steel sheet metal, aluminum sheet metal, zinc sheet metal
- Shape of sheet metal: corrugated sheet metal, flat sheet metal
- Coating layer on the sheet metal surface: galvanized sheet metal, color-coated sheet metal
- Sheet metal thickness: thin sheet metal, thick sheet metal
For easy visualization, let’s distinguish 6 types of galvanized sheets that are being sought after today with Bao Tin Steel!
cold rolled galvanized sheet
What is a cold-rolled galvanized sheet? Cold-rolled galvanized sheet, also known as galvanized steel, is made from thin-rolled steel. This steel is coated with a layer of aluminum-zinc alloy (Al-Zn) in the ratio of 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc, and 1.5% silicon.
The reason they are called cold-rolled steel is because this type of steel can reflect maximum sunlight. With that, buildings or houses covered with cold-rolled steel will be cooler than other types of steel.
Galvanized sheet
A galvanized steel sheet is also known as a galvanized sheet, zinc-coated steel sheet, galvanized steel sheet roll, etc. This is a product of cold-rolled steel. Then, it is coated with a layer of zinc during the production process under hot temperature conditions. The zinc layer is covered on both sides of the steel sheet and is usually 0.12–0.18 microns thick.
Insulated sheet
The insulated sheet is also known by other names such as insulated foam corrugated iron, PU insulated sheet, PU sheet heat-resistant sheet, etc. They are usually made up of 3 different layers:
- Color-coated steel layer: maximum reflection of heat from the sun, much more durable, and absorbs less heat than galvanized steel.
- PU insulation layer: PU (polyurethane) has effective soundproofing and heat insulation properties.
- Silver lining layer. Increases aesthetics and increases heat insulation capacity.
tile roofing sheet
Tile roofing sheet or corrugated tile sheet is often used to cover roofs instead of traditional brick and tile materials. With the advantages of durability and high aesthetics, this product has been and is being chosen by many Vietnamese families.
