What is a flange valve?
Flange valve is the general name for industrial valves that use flanges to connect to the piping system through bolted connections.
Flanged valves are manufactured according to DIN, BS, JIS, and ANSI standards. Each of these standards will specify the valve’s properties and characteristics (diameter, thickness, bolt-hole spacing, etc.).
Regarding connection standards, flanged valves often meet JIS 10K, BS PN16, BS PN10, ANSI class 300, DIN PN16, etc. These are considered common standards in Vietnam and around the world.
Flanged valves in general and flanged connections in particular help control fluid flow through the pipe. It creates a complete system, making the pipe sturdy and leak-free.
Structure of flange valve
Flange valves consist of many parts. Specifically:
- Valve body: Helps protect the internal parts of the valve.
- Valve cap: helps the valve seal tightly and protects the internal parts of the valve from external impacts.
- Valve shaft: Connects to the valve handle or controller to open/close the valve.
- Valve disc: Closes/opens the valve; prevents/allows fluid flow through.
- Sealing gasket: Prevents leakage when fluid passes through the valve.
- Control part: Helps the user control the valve more easily.
- Flange: Helps connect the valve to the pipeline.
Common types of flange valves
The only difference is that flanged valves have a flange structure to connect to the pipe. Therefore, flanged ball valves, flanged butterfly valves, flanged check valves, etc. are also understood as flanged valves. Each of these types will have its own characteristics and technical specifications. Specifically:
Flanged Ball Valve
Flanged ball valves can operate in both directions. They have the same parts as regular ball valves. The only difference is that there is a flange on the body to connect to the pipe. Therefore, this is also one of the types of flanged 2-way valves.
The highlight is that the valve has a valve disc in the shape of a round ball with a hole punched through the center, connecting from one end to the other end of the ball. That hole is also the valve door. The valve door will be responsible for opening and closing the valve, allowing the fluid to pass through or blocking the flow of fluid.

Flanged Gate Valve
Flange gate valve or flange gate valve, flange gate valve, and 2-flange stop valve are common names of this valve line. The flange gate valve opens and closes through the handwheel (steering wheel). The valve body is cast with 2 flanges on both sides. This flange is also used to connect the gate valve to the pipeline. This gate valve can operate in both directions, so it is also listed as a 2-way flange valve.

Flanged Globe Valve
Flanged globe valves come in many shapes, such as bulbous, tilt-type, Y-type, and angle. The structure of the flanged globe valve has a baffle, dividing the inside of the valve body into 2 compartments. On the baffle, there is a hole called the valve seat. This valve seat has the role of opening/closing to control the flow of fluid.t.
