Hot rolled steel plate

What is a hot rolled steel plate? Or hot rolled steel like that?
The answer will be for you in this article.

What is hot-rolled steel?

Hot rolled steel plate is also known as sheet steel, which is steel that is made in sheet and coil form (the coils are then discharged and cut to specifications).
Hot rolled coil shall have a thickness of less than or equal to 4 mm.
Hot-rolled steel sheets produced in bales will have a thickness of 6 ~ 60 mm.

Hot-rolled steel will be rolled and coiled at a temperature greater than its crystallization temperature. And usually above 538 degrees Celsius (1000 degrees Fahrenheit).

The hot rolled steel is then allowed to cool naturally at room temperature. After cooling, the steel becomes shrinking and its surface becomes rough.

However, this surface can be easily removed by grinding, descaling, or sandblasting.

Advantages and applications of hot rolled steel plate.

Because it is rolled directly at high temperature, hot rolled steel plate has good resistance to steel oxidation.
Besides, the durability of hot rolled steel sheets is also quite high, with good bearing capacity.
You can see hot rolled steel in equipment and constructions such as:
  • Construction: House frames, doors, partitions, beams, floors, stairs.
  • Mechanical: Processing machine parts and equipment with large sizes.
  • Transportation: Railroad wagons, train frames, rails, automotive equipment, shipbuilding.
  • Household appliances: Fans, racks, ventilation systems, metal crates.
