What is hot-rolled steel?
Hot-rolled steel will be rolled and coiled at a temperature greater than its crystallization temperature. And usually above 538 degrees Celsius (1000 degrees Fahrenheit).
The hot rolled steel is then allowed to cool naturally at room temperature. After cooling, the steel becomes shrinking and its surface becomes rough.
However, this surface can be easily removed by grinding, descaling, or sandblasting.

Specifications of hot rolled steel plate:
- Size: 1.2m – 1.5m
- Thickness: 1.2mm – 14mm
- Steel grade: SAE, SS400, SPHC, SPHT
Hot-rolled steel plate standards
At Tiger Steel, hot rolled steel sheet is manufactured from 4 main standards:
ANSI standard, steel grade 1006
Equivalent steel grades: UNS G10060, ASME 5041, ASTM A29, ASTM A510, ASTM A545, FED QQ-W-461, MIL SPEC MIL-S-11310 (CS1006), SAE J403, SAE J412, SAE J414.
