What is a galvanized sheet?
Galvanized sheet is also known as zinc-coated sheet metal, galvanized cold-rolled sheet metal, etc. It is hot-dip galvanized after the cold rolling process. With that, galvanized steel has an eye-catching appearance and high rust resistance.
A galvanized sheet is a hot-dip zinc-coated steel sheet in coil (-GI). It is also a type of thinly rolled steel sheet and then dipped in zinc.
The zinc layer coated on both surfaces of galvanized steel is usually 0.12–0.18 micro. However, the fire resistance of this type of steel is worse than that of colored steel. Therefore, it will only be used in normal environmental conditions with little oxidation.
Technical specifications of galvanized sheet
Technical parameters of galvanized sheet include:
- Thickness: 0.2 – 3.2mm. In which, common thicknesses are 0.20mm, 0.22mm, 0.25mm, 0.30mm, 0.35mm, 0.37mm, 0.40mm, 0.42mm, 0.45mm, 0.47mm, 0.48mm, 0.50mm, 0.52mm, 0.58mm. Width: 400mm – 1800mm
- Standard: Japanese standard JIS G3302, American standard ASTM A653, Australian standard AS1397, European standard BS EN 10346.
- Plating technology: NOF (NON-Oxidizing Furnaces)
- Corrugated type: flat plate (plate and roll form), 13 la phong waves, 5 square waves, 7 square waves, 9 square waves.
Classification of galvanized sheet
Currently, there are 3 types of galvanized sheets on the market: galvanized steel coils, galvanized steel sheets, and corrugated galvanized steel. The division into each type helps users easily distinguish, recognize, and purchase. Each type has different characteristics to best meet the needs of customers. Specifically:
Galvanized sheet
This is a flat sheet of corrugated sheet with a smooth surface. It is suitable for applications such as ventilation ducts, decks, stairs, tables and chairs, household appliances, etc.

- Thickness: 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm…
- Width: 750 mm, 1,000 mm, 1,250 mm, 1,500 mm, 1,800 mm, 2,000 mm, 2,400 mm, 3,000 mm, 3,800mm
- Length: 6,000 mm, 7,000 mm, 8,000 mm, 10,000 mm, 11,000 mm, 12,000 m
In addition, the above sizes can be changed depending on customer requirements.
Galvanized coil
The galvanized steel coil is a type of steel that is coated with an additional layer of aluminum-zinc alloy. The weight of this galvanized steel is often very large and is always in the form of a roll. It also has excellent rust and abrasion resistance, so it is widely used in the production process of industrial materials such as steel pipes, purlins, machine manufacturing, factory construction, or machine parts.
Specifications:
- Thickness: 0.20 ÷ 3.2mm
- Width: 400mm ÷ 1800mm
- Inner core diameter: 508mm or 610mm
- Coil weight: Max 20 tons
Galvanized corrugated sheet
Specifications
- 5 square wave roofing sheet – width 1.10m
- 7 square wave roofing sheet – width 0.82m
- 9 square wave roofing sheet – width 1.07m
- 13 round, square wave roofing sheet – width 1.10m: Used as the ceiling.
- Square wave galvanized steel sheet thickness: 0.16 ÷ 1.2mm
